INSTRUCTION FOR THE SPECIALIST.
Description of the drug approved by the manufacturer for the printed edition of 2013.
Carnosine is a histidine-containing dipeptide, one of the natural metabolic products in the human body. It is a biologically active dipeptide, which affects metabolic processes: glycolysis, oxidative
phosphorylation. The mechanism of action is due to antioxidant and membrane-protective action. Carnosine inhibits lipid peroxidation, enhances antioxidant defense, increases the body's resistance to the effects of various pathological factors in oxygen-dependent states. Carnosine has an accelerating effect on the processes of oxidative phosphorylation. Strengthens the synthesis of ATP, calculates the ratio of Ca 2+ / ATP in the disturbed active transport of calcium ions in the sarcoplasmic reticulum, increases the efficiency of active transport of sodium and potassium ions. Accelerates the healing of defects and damage to the corneal epithelium of traumatic, chemical, radiation, infectious and trophic etiology. Has a pronounced therapeutic effectiveness in the complex treatment of trophic keratitis, postherpetic epitheliopathy, primary and secondary corneal dystrophy, recurrent corneal erosion, bullous keratopathy. Carnosine in the composition of complex therapy accelerates the healing of ulcerative keratopathy of the cornea with herpesvirus and bacterial infection, dry ksratokonjuktivite.
When applying eye drops of karyosin, the active substance does not enter the systemic bloodstream in biologically active concentrations. Therapeutic concentration is achieved with topical application of the drug in the tissues and biological fluids of the eye.
Carnosine is completely masturbated in the human body and does not accumulate in organs and tissues.
As part of complex therapy:
- keratopathy of various etiologies;
- Ulcerative keratitis;
metabolic diseases of the cornea.
Locally. The drug is instilled in the subconjunctival sac by 1-3 drops 4-6 times a day. The duration of the course of treatment depends on the course of the disease (usually 1-3 weeks) and is determined by the doctor.
Burning in the eye (usually does not require cancellation).
- hypersensitivity to carnosine or other components of the drug;
- Children under 18 years of age (efficacy and safety not established).
With caution: in patients with a history of allergic anamnesis.
PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
Contraindicated in pregnancy and during lactation (efficacy and safety not established). For the period of treatment it is necessary to stop breastfeeding.
APPLICATION FOR CHILDREN
Contraindicated for children under 18 years.
The preservative contained in the eye drops can be deposited on soft contact lenses (cause a change in their color) and have an irritant effect on the eye tissue when applied. Contact lenses should be removed before instillation and dress 15 minutes later.
Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and other potentially dangerous mechanisms
Patients who, after applying the drug, temporarily change their clear vision, do not recommend the management of vehicles and other potentially dangerous mechanisms.
The phenomenon of overdose with the use of sevitin is not described.
Negative manifestations with the use of sevitin in the case of simultaneous use with other medicinal products are not described.
It can be used in complex therapy together with idoxuridine, ocular ointment acyclovir, dexamethasone.
