PHARMACHOLOGIC EFFECT
Antiseptic. Chlorhexidine is active against the vegetative forms of gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, as well as yeast, dermatophytes and lipophilic viruses. On bacterial spores acts only at elevated temperature. Cleans and disinfects the skin without causing damage to it.
INDICATIONS
For topical application: trichomonas colpitis, cervical erosion, vulvar pruritus, prevention of venereal diseases (including gonorrhea, syphilis, trichomoniasis, chlamydia, ureaplasmosis); gingivitis, stomatitis, aphthae, paradontitis, alveolitis, disinfection of removable dentures; angina; postoperative care for patients in the departments of ENT and dentistry.
Treatment of wounds, burn wounds and surfaces; disinfection of the patient's skin.
Treatment of the hands of the surgeon, the medical staff and the operating field before the diagnostic manipulation, operation.
Disinfection of working surfaces of devices (including thermometers) and equipment, the thermal treatment of which is undesirable.
DOSING MODE
The dose and method of use depend on the indications and dosage form of chlorhexidine.
SIDE EFFECT
Possible: allergic reactions.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Hypersensitivity to chlorhexidine.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
It retains activity in the presence of impurities of blood and organic substances. Do not allow chlorhexidine to enter the eyes (except for a special dosage form intended for eye washing), as well as contact with the medullary membranes and the auditory nerve.
DRUG INTERACTION
Chlorhexidine is not compatible with soap, as well as detergents containing an anionic group (saponins, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose).
Compatible with preparations containing a cationic group (cetrimonium bromide, benzalkonium chloride).
