PHARMACHOLOGIC EFFECT
Laxative means of plant origin. The triterpene saponin escin, contained in the extract of horse chestnut, stimulates the intestinal receptors of the rectal mucosa, causing an increase in its peristalsis and the rapid evacuation of stool.
The effect occurs 5-15 minutes after the application of the suppository. The urge to empty the bowel stops after the act of defecation. The drug does not cause stretching of the walls of the rectum, strengthens and tones up its smooth muscles. With a course application, the drug restores the defecation reflex and normalizes the defecation biorhythm.
PHARMACOKINETICS
With rectal administration, the drug does not have time to enter the bloodstream and therefore does not affect the metabolic processes of the body.
INDICATIONS
- Functional constipation of different etiology: habitual, psychogenic, senile, constipation in inactive patients, and constipation associated with a decrease in the sensitivity of the receptor apparatus of the rectum and violation of the biorhythm of defecation).
DOSING MODE
For adults, the drug is prescribed 1 soup. (50-100 mg) 1 time / day; the maximum single and daily dose is 300 mg / day. The duration of treatment should not exceed 30 days.
The drug is applied rectally (injected into the rectum) 1 time / day for 5-15 minutes before the planned act of defecation.
To remove the suppository from the cell package, one cell with the suppository must be broken off by notching and, by disconnecting the edges of the tape, pull them in different directions. The suppository is injected deep into the rectum.
SIDE EFFECT
In some cases: allergic reactions, a brief burning sensation in the rectum.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
- intestinal obstruction;
- acute inflammatory diseases of the abdominal cavity;
acute hemorrhoids;
acute proctitis and paraproctitis;
- Spastic constipation;
- tumors of the rectum;
- cracks in the rectum;
- Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
The use of the drug during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding) is possible only in cases where the potential benefit to the mother exceeds the risk for the fetus and the baby.
OVERDOSE
Symptoms: irritation of the mucous membrane of the rectum, in some cases - pain in the rectum.
