PHARMACHOLOGIC EFFECT
Rauvolfi alkaloids have antihypertensive and antiarrhythmic action. Sedative influence is less pronounced than in reserpine, but in terms of hypotensive effect, they are almost inferior to reserpine, and in some cases they are better tolerated.
The hypotensive effect develops more slowly than in the reserpine.
INDICATIONS
- Arterial hypertension of mild and moderate severity.
DOSING MODE
Inside, after eating. On the 1st day take 1 tab. (2 mg - in terms of the amount of alkaloids) at night; in the 2 nd day - 1 tab. 2 times / day, on the 3rd day - 3 tablets, gradually increasing the total dose to 4-6 tablets / day.
After reaching a therapeutic effect (after 10-14 days), the dose is gradually reduced to 1-2 tablets / day.
SIDE EFFECT
Perhaps swelling of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity, increased sweating, asthenia, cardialgia, bradycardia, depression, decreased libido.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
- arterial hypotension;
- Depression;
- Insufficiency of coronary circulation;
- organic damage to the myocardium;
aortic defects;
- Stomach ulcer and duodenal ulcer;
- nephrosclerosis;
- pregnancy (III trimester);
- age up to 18 years;
- hypersensitivity to alkaloids rauwolfia.
PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
Contraindicated in pregnancy (III trimester), during lactation.
APPLICATION FOR CHILDREN
Contraindicated in children and adolescents under 18 years.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Possible simultaneous or sequential use with other antihypertensive drugs (ganglioblokatorami, hydrochlorothiazide, hydralazine).
DRUG INTERACTION
With caution appoint together with quinidine, guanetidine, cardiac glycosides, beta-adrenoblockers (risk of increasing the severity of negative chrono- and dromotropic action).
