Description of the active substance:
This information is a reference and it is not enough that the drug has been prescribed by a doctor ..
PHARMACHOLOGIC EFFECT
Means for rehydration and detoxification.
Isotonic solution of dextrose (5%) is used to replenish the body with liquid. In addition, it is a source of valuable nutrients that are easily digested. With the metabolism of glucose in tissues, a significant amount of energy necessary for the life of the organism is released.
With IV injection of hypertonic solutions (10%, 20%, 40%), osmotic blood pressure rises, fluid flow from tissues to the blood increases, metabolic processes increase, liver function improves, diuresis.
PHARMACOKINETICS
Dextrose, entering the tissues, is phosphorylated, turning into glucose-6-phosphate, which is actively included in many parts of the body's metabolism. It is excreted by the kidneys.
INDICATIONS
Compensation of a lack of carbohydrates in the body. Correction of dehydration due to vomiting, diarrhea, in the postoperative period. Detoxification infusion therapy.Collapse, shock (as a component of various blood-substituting and anti-shock fluids). Used for the preparation of solutions of drugs for intravenous administration.
DOSING MODE
Dextrose solutions are injected intravenously into the drip.
5% solution: maximum to 150 drops / min, maximum daily intake for adults - 2 liters;
10% solution: maximum to 60 drops / min, maximum daily dose for adults - 500 ml;
20% solution: maximum to 40 drops / min, maximum daily intake for adults - 300 ml;
40% solution: maximum to 30 drops / min, maximum daily dose for adults - 250 ml.
SIDE EFFECT
From the side of metabolism: there may be violations of the ion balance, hyperglycemia.
From the side of the cardiovascular system: hypervolemia, acute left ventricular failure.
Other: fever.
Local reactions: rarely - local irritation, development of infection, thrombophlebitis.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Hyperglycemia, diabetes mellitus, hyperlactacidemia, hyperhydration, postoperative disorders of glucose utilization; circulatory disorders that threaten edema of the brain and lungs; edema of the brain, pulmonary edema, acute left ventricular failure, hyperosmolar coma.
PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
It is possible to use dextrose during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding) according to the indications.
APPLICATION FOR FUNCTIONS OF THE LIVER
Caution is prescribed for dextrose in chronic renal failure (oligoanuria).
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Caution is prescribed for dextrose in case of decompensated heart failure, chronic renal failure (oligoanuria), hyponatremia.
To increase osmolarity, a 5% solution of dextrose can be combined with an isotonic solution of sodium chloride.
