PHARMACHOLOGIC EFFECT
Means of plant origin. The fruits of hawthorn contain flavonoids (quercetin, hyperin, hyperoside, vitexin), organic acids (citric, olean, ursolic, krutegusovaya, coffee, chlorogenic), carotenoids, tannins, fatty oils, pectins, triterpene and flavone glycosides, beta-sitosterol, choline , sugars, vitamins.
The active substances of hawthorn lower the excitability of the central nervous system and cardiac muscle, increase the contractility of the latter, improve the coronary and cerebral circulation, and eliminate dizziness. Hawthorn contributes to the normalization of the heart rhythm, which is due, as expected, the mechanism of action characteristic for antiarrhythmics of the III class.
Due to the presence of triterpene compounds and flavonoids, it exerts an antispasmodic effect, selectively expanding the vessels of the heart and brain; hypotensive effect; contributes to the normalization of venous pressure, improves the function of the vascular walls.
In experimental studies it was shown that galenic preparations of hawthorn and triterpene glycosides exert a pronounced anti-atherosclerotic effect.
INDICATIONS
As part of complex therapy for functional disorders of the heart, arterial hypertension, coronary heart disease, angioedema, atrial fibrillation, paroxysmal tachycardia, atherosclerosis, climacteric neurosis.
DOSING MODE
Cooked infusion take 1 / 2-1 / 3 cup 2-3 times / day for 30 minutes before meals.
SIDE EFFECT
Possible: allergic reactions, decreased blood pressure, bradycardia (with prolonged use), nausea, vomiting, intestinal colic (when taken on an empty stomach), drowsiness.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Hypersensitivity to the plant.
