PHARMACHOLOGIC EFFECT

The alpha-adrenostimulator.
Narrows the blood vessels of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity, eliminating the edema and hyperemia of the mucous membrane.Relieves nasal breathing in rhinitis.
The action comes in a few minutes and lasts for several hours.

PHARMACOKINETICS

With topical application is practically not absorbed, plasma concentrations are so small that they can not be determined by modern analytical methods.

INDICATIONS

acute allergic rhinitis;

- acute respiratory disease with rhinitis;

- sinusitis;

- Pollinosis;

- otitis media (to reduce edema of the nasopharynx mucosa);

- Preparation of the patient for diagnostic manipulation in the nasal passages.

DOSING MODE

Intranasally.
Adults and children over 6 years: 2-3 drops in each nasal passage 2-3 times / day.
Do not use more than 3 times / day



SIDE EFFECT

When used, it can cause burning in the nose and throat, local irritation, paresthesia, sneezing, hypersecretion, dryness of the nasal mucosa.
Allergic reactions are possible.
Rarely - edema of the nasal mucosa, palpitations, tachycardia, arrhythmias, increased blood pressure, headache, nausea, vomiting, insomnia, impaired vision;depression (with prolonged use in high doses).

If symptoms occur, discontinue use and consult a doctor.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

- arterial hypertension;

- tachycardia;

- severe atherosclerosis;

- glaucoma;

- Atrophic rhinitis;

- thyrotoxicosis;

- surgical interventions on the meninges (in the anamnesis);

- Pregnancy;

- Children's age (up to 6 years);

- Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

With caution: lactation period, IHD (angina pectoris), prostatic hyperplasia, diabetes mellitus.

PREGNANCY AND LACTATION

The drug is contraindicated in pregnancy.
With caution - during lactation.
APPLICATION FOR CHILDREN

Contraindicated in children under 6 years.

Children over 6 years: 2-3 drops in each nasal passage 2-3 times / day.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

It is not recommended frequent and long-term use in chronic diseases of the nasopharynx.
In case of colds, in cases where crusts form in the nose, it is preferable to prescribe in the form of a gel.
OVERDOSE

Symptoms: with occasional poisoning with xylometazoline while taking it inside, you may have mydriasis, nausea, vomiting, cyanosis, fever, spasms, tachycardia, cardiac arrhythmia, collapse, cardiac arrest, hypertension, pulmonary edema, respiratory disorders, mental disorders, suppression of CNS function, accompanied by drowsiness , a decrease in body temperature, bradycardia, hypotension, apnea, coma.

Treatment: gastric lavage, the appointment of activated charcoal, if necessary IVL.
To reduce blood pressure - fentolamine I / O slowly in a dose of 5 mg or inside at a dose of 100 mg.
Vasopressor agents are contraindicated.
If necessary, antipyretic and anticonvulsant drugs are used.
DRUG INTERACTION

Do not use simultaneously with MAO inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants.
