INSTRUCTION FOR THE SPECIALIST.
Description of the drug approved by the manufacturer for the printed edition of 2005.
Adapalene represents a new generation of synthetic retinoids and is a derivative of naphthoic acid. Adapalene has sebostatic, comedonolytic / anticomedogenic and anti-inflammatory effects.
The drug acts on follicular hyperkeratosis, regulating the process of keratinization and desquamation - has pronounced comedonolytic activity (affects open and closed comedones) and anticomedogenic action (prevents the formation of micro-medones).
The main mechanism of action is selective binding to nuclear RA? -receptors of epidermal cells, in contrast to the indiscriminate binding of retinoids of previous generations. This mechanism regulates the final differentiation of keratinocytes, which ensures the normalization of the keratinization process and the reduction of the prerequisites for the formation of microcosmodes.
Proven anti-inflammatory effect of adapalene: inhibition of lipoxygenase, arichidonic acid, cytokines. In vitro and in vivo exhibits high anti-inflammatory activity, comparable in strength to betamethasone and indomethacin, by influencing inflammation factors.
Adapalene does not have a photosensitizing effect.
Due to low systemic absorption, there is no data on the pharmacokinetics of the Differin preparation; systemic action is not revealed.
Cream or gel evenly, not rubbing, applied to the affected skin 1 time / day before bedtime. The drug should be applied to clean, dry skin.
The therapeutic effect develops after 4-8 weeks of therapy, persistent improvement - after 3 months from the beginning of therapy.
It is possible to conduct repeated courses of therapy with the drug on the recommendation of a doctor.
Differin cream is recommended for sensitive and dry skin.
Differin is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate acne as a monotherapy, and for acne of moderate severity, also in combination with other local (antibiotics, benzoyl peroxide) and systemic (antibiotics, anti-androgen for oral administration) drugs.
Local reactions: when applying cream or gel in excessive amounts, redness and flaking of the skin is possible.
- Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
Differin is not recommended for use during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding).
When using the drug, avoid contact with eyes and lips.
In some cases, the use of the drug may short-term skin irritation, in such cases, therapy can be interrupted until the symptoms of irritation disappear.
During the period of application of the drug, active sun exposure and UV irradiation should be avoided due to possible slight skin irritation.
During the period of application of the drug, cosmetic products with a drying or irritating effect (including perfumes, ethanol containing agents) are not recommended.
It is possible to use other means to treat acne on the background of the use of Differin; while Differin is used 1 time / day at bedtime, and in the morning other means are used (for example, 4% erythromycin lotion, 1% clindamycin lotion, benzoyl peroxide on a water basis in a concentration not exceeding 10%). Possible simultaneous use of funds for make-up and moisturizers, not conducive to the formation of comedones.
Due to low systemic absorption, an overdose is unlikely.
There is no clinically significant interaction of the Differin preparation with simultaneous application of clindamycin phosphate or benzoyl peroxide.
