The blocker of histamine H 1 -receptors, the derivative of ethylenediamine. Has antiallergic, antipruritic, antiexudative, and also weak sedation. It has m-cholinoblocking properties.
After oral administration, it is rapidly absorbed from the digestive tract. Bioavailability is 40-60%. Virtually does not penetrate the BBB. Metabolised in the liver by methylation. Causes the induction of microsomal liver enzymes. It is excreted by the kidneys.
Hay fever, hives, eczema, pruritus, allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, skin reaction after an insect bite; bronchial asthma (as part of combination therapy).
Adults and children over 10 years of age - 100-300 mg / day. The daily dose for children aged 5-10 years is 100-200 mg; 2-5 years - 50-150 mg; up to 2 years - 50-100 mg.
From the digestive system: rarely - dry mouth, dyspeptic phenomena due to irritation of the gastric mucosa.
From the side of the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system: dizziness, paresthesia, increased fatigue, tremors, drowsiness.
From the hemopoietic system: in isolated cases - granulocytopenia, agranulocytosis.
From the side of the urinary system: in isolated cases - dysuria.
Hypertrophy of the prostate gland, angle-closure glaucoma, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, inflammatory diseases of the digestive tract in the phase of exacerbation; hypersensitivity to mebhydrolin, pyloric stenosis, epilepsy, cardiac arrhythmias (having vagolytic action, can improve AV-conductivity and promote the development of supraventricular arrhythmias), pregnancy, lactation.
PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
Mebhydroline is contraindicated for use in pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding).
