PHARMACHOLOGIC EFFECT
Synthetic analog of histamine. It acts like histamine, mainly on histamine H 1 -receptors. It causes the expansion of precapillaries, in particular, facilitates microcirculation in the labyrinth. In addition, betagistin regulates the pressure of the endolymph in the labyrinth and cochlea, leading to a clinical improvement in the dizziness of various etiologies. Reduces the frequency and intensity of dizziness, reduces tinnitus, helps improve hearing in cases of its decline. Increases the tone of smooth muscles of the bronchi, gastrointestinal tract. May cause increased secretion of gastric juice.
PHARMACOKINETICS
After ingestion of betahistine, the dihydrochloride is rapidly and almost completely absorbed from the digestive tract. Binding to plasma proteins is low.
Virtually completely excreted from the body with urine for 24 hours. T 1/2 - 3-4 hours.
INDICATIONS
MГ©niГЁre's disease; syndromes characterized by dizziness, tinnitus and / or progressive hearing loss, incl. oedemas of the inner ear maze, vestibular and labyrinthine disorders (including dizziness, noise and pain in the ears, headache, nausea, vomiting, hearing loss), vestibular neuritis, labyrinthitis, benign positional vertigo (including after neurosurgical operations); vertebrobasilar insufficiency, posttraumatic encephalopathy, atherosclerosis of cerebral vessels (as part of complex therapy).
DOSING MODE
Single dose - 8-16 mg, the frequency of reception - 3 times / day. Treatment is long.
SIDE EFFECT
From the side of the digestive system: slight nausea, a feeling of heaviness in the epigastrium are possible.
Allergic reactions: in some cases - skin rash, itching, urticaria.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Pheochromocytoma, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum in the exacerbation phase, bronchial asthma, I trimester of pregnancy, hypersensitivity to betagistin.
PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
It is not recommended to use in the first trimester of pregnancy and during lactation. With caution should be used in the II and III trimesters of pregnancy.
