INSTRUCTION FOR THE SPECIALIST.

Description of the drug approved by the manufacturer for the printed edition of 2013.

PHARMACHOLOGIC EFFECT

Phenol is an antiseptic.
It has bactericidal activity against vegetative forms of bacteria (mainly aerobic) and fungi, it has little effect on spores; has a disinfectant effect.Interacts with proteins of a microbial cell and causes their denaturation, breaks the colloidal state of the cell, dissolves in the lipids of the cell membrane and increases its permeability, affects oxidation-reduction processes. In a 1.25% solution most microorganisms die after 5-10 minutes at room temperature. The skin and mucous membranes have an irritating and cauterizing effect.
The bactericidal effect is enhanced in an acidic medium and with an increase in temperature.

Salicylic acid has antiseptic, keratolytic, local irritant and anti-inflammatory effect.
Suppresses secretion of sebaceous and sweat glands. In low concentrations keratoplastic, and in high - keratolytic action. Has a weak antimicrobial activity.
The combined effect of both active components is reduced to a decrease in the activity of the sebaceous glands, edema, pain, hyperemia in the field of inflammatory infiltrates, improvement of microcirculation and thereby activation of reparative processes in the skin, which is the prevention of scar formation.
Minimal skin trauma, which is inevitable when exposed to phenol, promotes the activation of metabolic processes, and as a consequence, increases local immunity, the synthesis of elastin and collagen fibers, which leads to the gradual resolution of bluish stagnant spots, smoothing atrophic scars from the inside and significantly improving the texture skin.
PHARMACOKINETICS

Phenol is easily absorbed through the skin and mucous membranes.
With systemic absorption has a toxic effect. 20% of the dose is oxidized. It is excreted by the kidneys. With external application of salicylic acid, systemic absorption is possible.
INDICATIONS

Symptomatic therapy of the following diseases:

- acne vulgaris;

- seborrheic dermatitis;

- Consequences of the previously suffered acne with developed non-rough scars and hyperpigmentation;

- Actinic dermatitis;

- keratosis.

Prophylaxis and correction of cosmetic skin defects.

Preparation for deep dermabrasion and skin-plastic operations.

DOSING MODE

Due to the fact that the effectiveness of the drug directly depends on its exposure to the skin (the longer the drug is on its surface, the deeper its penetration), for each individual patient, depending on the type of skin, its sensitivity, the exposure time is selected individually.
This selection is performed by a doctor.
The duration of exposure also depends on the goals.
The procedure is longer, if the task is to penetrate the drug deeply into the epidermis.
Before applying the product, it is necessary to clean and degrease the skin.

The solution is applied to the affected areas of the skin with a clean cotton swab, and the duration of exposure can vary over a wide range, on average, from 1 to 5 minutes.

At the end of the procedure, an oily gel is applied and further post-pilling skin care is performed.

SIDE EFFECT

Individual intolerance is possible;
Locally - itching, burning, rash.
Allergic reactions.

renal and hepatic impairment;

- severe diseases of the cardiovascular system;

- Pollinosis;

- bronchial asthma;

- Temporary exposure (less than a week) after epilation and other invasive procedures;

- hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug;

- Children under 18 years.

Treatment: treatment of the skin with a tampon with vegetable oil or polyethylene glycol (you can not use petroleum jelly), symptomatic therapy.

DRUG INTERACTION

Salicylic acid can increase skin permeability for other drugs (LS) for topical application and thereby increase their absorption.
The absorbed salicylic acid may increase the side effects of methotrexate and oral hypoglycemic drugs, sulfonylurea derivatives. The solution is pharmaceutically incompatible with resorcinol (forms melting mixtures) and zinc oxide (insoluble zinc salicylate).
