PHARMACHOLOGIC EFFECT
Chlorhexidine is an antiseptic drug for local (intravaginal) use, is active against the simplest, Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, viruses, incl. for Treponema pallidum, Chlamydia spp., Ureaplasma spp., Neisseria gononhoeae, Trichomonas vaginalis, Gardnerella vaginalis, Bacteroides fragilis, Herpes simplex type 2. Some strains of Pseudomonas spp., Proteus spp., As well as acid-fast forms of bacteria, spores of bacteria are resistant to the drug. Chlorhexidine does not interfere with the functional activity of lactobacilli.
PHARMACOKINETICS
Systemic absorption with intravaginal application is insignificant.
INDICATIONS
- prevention of sexually transmitted infections (chlamydia, ureaplasmosis, trichomoniasis, gonorrhea, syphilis, genital herpes and others);
- prevention of infectious and inflammatory complications in obstetrics and gynecology (before operative treatment of gynecological diseases, before childbirth and abortion, before and after installation of the intrauterine device (IUD), before and after diathermocoagulation of the cervix, before intrauterine studies);
- Treatment of bacterial vaginosis, colpitis (including nonspecific, mixed, trichomonads).
DOSING MODE
Intravaginal. Preliminarily releasing the suppository from the contour cell packaging, it is inserted into the vagina in the supine position on the back.
For treatment : 1 suppository 2 times / day for 7-10 days. If necessary, it is possible to extend the course of treatment to 20 days.
For the prevention of sexually transmitted infections: 1 suppository not later than 2 hours after sexual intercourse.
SIDE EFFECT
Extremely rare (less than 0.1% of cases) are allergic reactions, itching of the skin, after the drug is withdrawn.
CONTRAINDICATIONS

PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
The use of the drug during pregnancy and during lactation is possible if the intended benefit to the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus and the baby.

Contraindicated in childhood.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Chlorhexidine retains activity (albeit somewhat lowered) in the presence of blood, pus.
OVERDOSE
At present, no cases of drug overdose have been reported.
DRUG INTERACTION
It is not recommended simultaneous use with iodine-containing drugs if they are administered intravaginally.
Chlorhexidine is not compatible with detergents containing an anionic group (saponins, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium carboxymethylcellulose) and soaps if they are administered intravaginally. The toilet of external sexual opganas does not affect the efficacy and tolerability of vaginal suppositories of Chlorhexidine. the drug is administered intravaginally.

Shelf life of the drug is 2 years. Do not use after the expiration date.
