PHARMACHOLOGIC EFFECT
The active substance - chlorin E6 - selectively accumulates in malignant tumors and when exposed locally to light with a wavelength of 660-670 nm provides a photosensitizing effect leading to damage to the tumor tissue.

PHARMACOKINETICS
After iv injection of Photolon, the time to reach C max is 3 hours, then the concentration slowly decreases;
After 24 hours, trace amounts of the drug are found in the blood.
Selectively accumulates in tumor tissue, well penetrates through tissue and cellular barriers;
is found in the thymus, skin, bone marrow, spleen, ovaries, adrenal glands, heart, pancreas, stomach, kidneys, liver, lungs.
INDICATIONS
Photodynamic therapy of malignant neoplasms:

- Skin cancer (squamous and basal cell);

- melanoma;

- Breast cancer and their intradermal metastases;

- cancer of the mucous membranes (vulva, esophagus, rectum).

Diagnosis of malignant neoplasms by the spectro fluorescent method.

DOSING MODE
In / in the drip in a dose of 2.5-3 mg / kg.
The calculated dose is dissolved in 200 ml of 0.9% sodium chloride solution and injected for 30 minutes. 3-4 hours after the administration of the drug, a local irradiation of the tumor with a dose of at least 300 J / cm 2 per session is carried out with the help of laser devices generating radiation with a wavelength of 660-670 nm.
SIDE EFFECT
Increase in body temperature and pain in the irradiation zone (stopping analgesic drugs), increasing blood pressure in patients with concomitant diseases of the cardiovascular system.

When administered in therapeutic doses, it has a weakly expressed systemic phototoxicity.
In the first week after the administration of the drug, if the light regime is disturbed, hyperemia and edema of the open surfaces of the body (without pigmentation) may develop.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
hypersensitivity;

- marked renal or hepatic insufficiency;

- diseases of the cardiovascular system in the stage of decompensation (chronic heart failure, arterial hypertension);

- Pregnancy;

- lactation period;

- childhood.

APPLICATION FOR FUNCTIONS OF THE LIVER
Contraindication - marked renal failure.

APPLICATION FOR VIOLATIONS OF THE FUNCTION OF KIDNEYS
Contraindication - marked hepatic insufficiency.

APPLICATION FOR CHILDREN
Contraindication - a child's age.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
During the treatment, sun and UV radiation should be avoided.
The patient should be instructed about the need for strict adherence to the light regime (exposure to direct sunlight, watching TV, etc.) is excluded.
The preparation should be administered in a darkened room.

Starting from the first day of Photolon application, open body surfaces should be treated with a photoprotective cream.

OVERDOSE
Symptoms: dyspnea, tachycardia, increased blood pressure, agitation, followed by oppression, hypothermia.

Treatment: symptomatic therapy (there is no specific antidote).

DRUG INTERACTION
It is not recommended to use local anesthetic drugs (infiltration anesthesia).
