PHARMACHOLOGIC EFFECT
Miorelaxant of central action. Reduces the increased tone of skeletal muscles, relieves their spasm; reduces the resistance of muscles with passive movements, increases the force of arbitrary contractions. The muscle-relaxing effect of tizanidine is probably due to the inhibition of spinal polysynaptic reflexes, which is associated with a decrease in the release of excitatory amino acids from the presynaptic terminals of spinal interneurons, as well as by stimulation? 2- adrenoreceptors.Tizanidine does not affect the transmission of excitation in the neuromuscular synapses.
INDICATIONS
The spastic condition of skeletal muscles caused by neurological diseases (multiple sclerosis, chronic myelopathy, stroke, degenerative diseases of the spinal cord).Painful spasm of skeletal muscles due to spinal cord injury (cervical and lumbar syndrome) or arising after surgery (for herniation of the intervertebral disc or osteoarthritis of the thigh).
DOSING MODE
To stop the painful spasm of skeletal muscles apply 2-4 mg 3 times / day; in severe cases it is recommended to take 2-4 mg for the night. With spasmodic conditions of the muscles caused by neurological diseases, the initial dose is 6 mg / day in 3 divided doses. The dose is gradually increased by 2-4 mg / day every 3-7 days. The optimal therapeutic effect is usually achieved at a dose of 12-24 mg / day, divided into 3-4 doses. Do not exceed the dose of 36 mg / day.
SIDE EFFECT
When tizanidine is used in relatively small doses, drowsiness, fatigue, dizziness, dry mouth, nausea, and a slight decrease in blood pressure are observed in rare cases; in higher doses - these effects occur more often and are more pronounced, in addition, insomnia, muscle weakness, bradycardia, increased activity of transaminases in the serum are possible.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Hypersensitivity to tizanidine.

Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and manage mechanisms
At the beginning of treatment, when drowsiness occurs, activities that require high concentration of attention, rapid psychomotor reactions should be avoided.
DRUG INTERACTION
With simultaneous use with antihypertensive drugs, (including with diuretics), it is possible to develop severe arterial hypotension and bradycardia.
With the simultaneous use of ethanol, drugs with sedative effect, the sedative effect is enhanced.
