PHARMACHOLOGIC EFFECT
Uroantiseptic, a derivative of 4-quinolone.
Has a bactericidal effect due to the binding of ferrous ions and inhibition of the enzyme systems of the microbial cell.
It is active against most Gram-negative bacteria: Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Proteus spp., Klebsiella spp., Shigella spp., Salmonella spp.

It is also active against certain gram-positive bacteria, in particular Staphylococcus aureus.

PHARMACOKINETICS
After ingestion C max in blood plasma is achieved after 2 hours. Bioavailability is 60%, binding to plasma proteins - 15%.
T 1/2 - 3 hours. With urine, 50-70% is output.
INDICATIONS
Infectious-inflammatory diseases caused by sensitive microorganisms (including pyelonephritis, urethritis, cystitis, prostatitis).

DOSING MODE
When ingestion - 400 mg 2 times / day for 10 days.
In some cases, a single dose can be increased to 600 mg.
With frequent acute infections of the urinary tract in women, concomitant with oral treatment are administered intravaginally.

SIDE EFFECT
From the digestive system: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.

Allergic reactions: skin rash, itching.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
Severe renal dysfunction (CK <10 ml / min), expressed violations of liver function, I and III trimesters of pregnancy, children's age, hypersensitivity to pipemidic acid.

PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
Pipemidic acid is contraindicated for use in I and III trimesters of pregnancy.
Use in the II trimester of pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding) should be done with caution, only in cases where the expected therapeutic effect for the mother exceeds the potential risk of side effects in the fetus or child.
APPLICATION FOR FUNCTIONS OF THE LIVER
Contraindicated in severe renal dysfunction (KK <10 ml / min).

APPLICATION FOR VIOLATIONS OF THE FUNCTION OF KIDNEYS
Contraindicated in severe violations of liver function.

APPLICATION FOR CHILDREN
Contraindicated in childhood.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
In the treatment should avoid ultraviolet radiation due to the high risk of photosensitization;
increase the amount of fluid consumed (under the control of diuresis).
DRUG INTERACTION
With simultaneous use with drugs that alkalinize urine, the activity of pipemidic acid is enhanced.
