PHARMACHOLOGIC EFFECT
Lipase inhibitor.
When administered orlistat inhibits gastric and pancreatic lipases. As a result, the breakdown of food fats is violated and their absorption from the digestive tract decreases. With systematic use, this effect leads to a decrease in body weight in patients with obesity. Orlistat is practically not absorbed from the digestive tract and, in connection with this, practically does not have a resorptive effect.
INDICATIONS
Obesity (in combination with a moderate calorie diet).

DOSING MODE
Take inside 120 mg at each main meal or within an hour after a meal, usually no more than 3 times / day.
If the food contains few fats, you can skip the intake of orlistat.
SIDE EFFECT
Possible: oily discharge from the rectum, flatulence, "fatty" stool, frequent defecation, imperative urges for defecation, incontinence of stool.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
Syndrome of chronic malabsorption, hypersensitivity to orlistat.

PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
With particular care apply orlistat during pregnancy and lactation.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
It should be borne in mind that the frequency and severity of side effects increase with an increase in the content of fat in the diet.
With a decrease in the fat content of food, the likelihood of side effects decreases. It is recommended that the amount of fat consumed per day is fairly evenly distributed to all meals.
In the process of treatment, as the body weight decreases, it is possible to improve the course of often obesity-related pathological processes, incl.
arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, violations of lipid metabolism.
DRUG INTERACTION
It is shown that orlistat leads to a decrease in absorption from the gastrointestinal tract of beta-carotene, β-tocopherol.
