PHARMACHOLOGIC EFFECT
Radiopaque non-ionic dimer.
It is a hexaodized compound, water soluble. Iodixanol contains approximately 49.1% iodine. Organically bound iodine, injected into the bloodstream and fed into organs and tissues, absorbs X-rays. Aqueous solutions of iodixanol in all concentrations used in the clinic have a lower osmolality than whole blood and monomeric non-ionic radiopaque agents in comparable concentrations.
INDICATIONS
For intravenous administration: selective cerebral arteriography, selective cerebral v / a digital subtractive arteriography (CAA), aortography, peripheral arteriography, peripheral v / a CSA, cardioangiography.
For IV introduction: intravenous excretory urography, venography of extremities. Contrast enhancement in X-ray computed tomography.
DOSING MODE
Individual, depending on the type of study, age, body weight, cardiac output, the general condition of the patient, and the research technique used.

SIDE EFFECT
On the part of the digestive system: nausea, vomiting, taste disorders are possible.

From the side of the central nervous system: visual impairment, headache.

Allergic reactions: skin rash, itching, angioedema, cases of anaphylactic shock are described.

Other: transient renal dysfunction.

Local reactions: there may be sensations of heat, cold, discomfort.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
Thyrotoxicosis of severe course, chronic heart failure in the phase of decompensation, increased sensitivity to iodixanol.

PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
In pregnancy, iodixanol is used in cases of extreme necessity.
During lactation, breastfeeding should be discontinued before the introduction of radiopaque and resumed no earlier than 24 hours after administration.
APPLICATION FOR FUNCTIONS OF THE LIVER
The risk of kidney dysfunction with iodixanol was increased in patients with a history of kidney disease, diabetic nephropathy, and myelomatosis.
In patients with impaired renal function, clearance of iodixanol is reduced, with a concomitant violation of liver and kidney function, a significant decrease in clearance occurs.
APPLICATION IN ELDERLY PATIENTS
Use with caution in the elderly.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
It is necessary to strictly observe the compliance of the used dosage form with indications for use.

With caution apply in patients with bronchial asthma, hyperthyroidism, cardiovascular disease, in the elderly.
At the instructions in the anamnesis for attacks of bronchial asthma, allergic reactions to the introduction of iodine-containing drugs can be used premedication of GCS or antihistamines.
Use iodixanol is recommended in the presence of conditions for urgent measures in cases of development of serious adverse reactions, incl.
anaphylactic shock.

Do not dehydrate the body before adding contrast medium.

On the day of administration of iodixanol, the content of bilirubin, proteins, iron, copper, calcium, phosphates should not be determined in the blood plasma.
Within 2 weeks after the application of iodixanol, the iodo-binding capacity of the thyroid tissue is reduced.
