A broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent for the treatment of gastrointestinal infections (intestinal antiseptic), a derivative of nitrofuran. In high doses has a bactericidal effect, in smaller doses bacteriostatic.
It is active against gram-positive bacteria: Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp .; Gram-negative bacteria: Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Proteus spp.
Virtually not absorbed from the digestive tract. It acts in the lumen of the intestine.

Adults - 200 mg 4 times / day. Children aged 1 month to 2.5 years - 100 mg 2-3 times / day; older than 2.5 years - 200 mg 3 times / day. The duration of the course of treatment is no more than 7 days.

The use of nifuroxazide does not exclude the need for rehydration therapy in the event that there are symptoms of dehydration.
Before use in children older than 1 month should be excluded congenital deficiency of enzymes that break down sucrose.
Simultaneous administration of ethanol can cause symptoms of hypersensitivity.
