PHARMACHOLOGIC EFFECT

A combined anti-anemic drug containing ferrous iron in the form of a simple ferric sulfate salt, vitamin B 12 , folic acid and ascorbic acid.

Iron is an important part of the human body.
It is part of hemoglobin, myoglobin and various other enzymes.
Ascorbic acid improves the absorption of iron in the intestine.

Vitamin B 12 and folic acid are involved in the formation and maturation of red blood cells.

The active components of the Ferro-Folgam ® preparation are in a special neutral shell, which ensures their absorption, mainly in the upper part of the small intestine.The absence of a local irritant effect on the gastric mucosa contributes to the good tolerability of the drug.

PHARMACOKINETICS

Data on the pharmacokinetics of the Ferro-Folgamma ® preparation are not available.

- Anemia in pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding);

Symptoms: pain in epigastrium, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, drowsiness, pallor of the skin, development of shock, up to coma.

Treatment: gastric lavage, deferoxamine administration, symptomatic and maintenance therapy.

DRUG INTERACTION

Organic acids, calcium, phosphorus, phytin, colestyramine, antacids containing aluminum, magnesium, calcium, disrupt iron absorption due to the formation of insoluble complexes.

Preparations of pancreatic enzymes can reduce iron absorption.

With the simultaneous use of Ferro-Folgamma ® with phenobarbital, carbamazepine, sodium valproate, sulfasalazine, hormonal contraceptives, folic acid antagonists, trimethoprim, pyrimethamine, triamterene, absorption of folic acid decreases.

Iron salts disrupt absorption from the gastrointestinal tract of antibiotics of the tetracycline group.

Solid food, bread, raw cereals, dairy products, eggs reduce the absorption of iron when used during treatment with antibiotics of the tetracycline group, as well as penicillamine, because
complex compounds are formed that reduce the absorption of iron and reduce the antimicrobial activity of antibiotics.
