PHARMACHOLOGIC EFFECT

Antiviral drug for external use.
Penciclovir is an antiviral drug that is active against Herpes simplex viruses of type 1 and type 2, the Varicella zoster virus. The virus can be inactive in the body for an extended period of time. At the time of activation (for example, due to fatigue, colds, flu), the virus begins to multiply, which leads to the development of fever in the form of bubble rashes, especially often on the lips or in areas around them. Penciclovir blocks the virus and stops its reproduction. The use of the drug leads to a faster recovery, a decrease in the intensity of pain, the period of risk of transmission of a viral infection is reduced.
PHARMACOKINETICS

With external application, the preparation is practically not subjected to systemic absorption.
Modern analytical methods can not detect penciclovir in the blood or urine of healthy volunteers after applying Fenistil ® Pencivir cream in doses many times higher than therapeutic.
Penetrating into the cells infected with the virus, penciclovir quickly passes into penciclovir triphosphate, which has pharmacological activity and persists in the affected cells for 12 hours.

INDICATIONS

- recurrent herpes simplex with localization on the lips (herpes labialis).

DOSING MODE

The drug is used externally.

Adults and children aged 12 years and older : a small amount of cream is squeezed onto the tip of the finger and applied to the affected area every 2 hours (approximately 8 times / day).
The course of therapy is conducted for 4 days.
The cream can also be applied with a cotton swab or a disposable applicator (for packages containing applicators).

The cream for external use with toning effect has masking properties, it masks the areas affected by herpes on the lips and on the skin around the mouth.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

Wash hands thoroughly before and after applying the cream.

Treatment should be started as early as possible, with the first signs of infection.
However, even with the development of herpes in the bubble stage, the use of Fenistil® Pencivir cream reduces the healing time (heals the affected areas, reduces pain and shortens the duration of the peeling of the crust from the virus).
In patients with weakened immunities or if the manifestations of the disease are vague, the doctor decides to apply the drug individually.

The drug should be used only on areas affected by herpes on the lips and on the skin around the mouth.
It is not recommended to apply the cream to the mucous membrane of the mouth, nose, or in the eyes and genital area.
It is necessary to conduct a full course of therapy with Fenistil ® Pencivir cream for 4 days, in order to achieve the greatest effect from the therapy, even if the signs of infection disappear after one or two days of treatment.

If the condition worsens or if there is no improvement after 4 days of therapy, the patient should consult a doctor
