PHARMACHOLOGIC EFFECT
Hormone posterior lobe of the pituitary gland. It has a stimulating effect on the smooth muscles of the uterus, increases contractile activity and, to a lesser degree, the tone of the myometrium. In small doses increases the frequency and amplitude of contractions of the uterus, in large doses or with repeated administration contributes to an increase in the tone of the uterus, the increase and intensification of its contractions (up to the tetanic). It causes an increase in the secretion of prolactin, as well as the reduction of myoepithelial cells surrounding the alveoli of the breast, enhancing the production of milk. Has weak vasopressin-like antidiuretic properties.
PHARMACOKINETICS
After parenteral administration, T 1/2 from the plasma is from one to several minutes. Metabolised in the liver. When pregnancy in the blood plasma, target organs, placenta appears a specific enzyme oxytocinase, inactivating endogenous and exogenous oxytocin. INDICATIONS

DOSING MODE
Individual. Single dose for I / m administration, depending on the clinical situation, varies from 2 to 10 IU; for intravenous administration (jet slowly or drip) single dose is 5 IU.
SIDE EFFECT
On the part of the endocrine system: vasopressin-like action.
From the digestive system: nausea, vomiting.
From the cardiovascular system: violation of the heart rate.
On the part of the reproductive system: hypertension of the uterus, discordant or excessively intense labor, rupture of the uterus, intrauterine fetal distress (bradycardia, arrhythmia, asphyxia), premature detachment of the placenta.
Allergic reactions: skin rashes, itching.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Inconsistency in the size of the fetus and pelvis of the mother, transverse and oblique position of the fetus, threatening rupture of the uterus, narrow pelvis, placenta previa; hypertensive contractions of the uterus, the presence of scar on the uterus after a previous cesarean section.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
