PHARMACHOLOGIC EFFECT
Oxycort - a drug for external use, which has a combined effect of two active components.
Oxytetracycline is an antibiotic from the group of tetracyclines of a wide spectrum of action. Has a bacteriostatic effect on certain gram-positive bacteria: streptococci;Gram-negative bacteria: rods Enterobacteriaceae, Pseudomonadaceae, Pasteurellaceae (Haemophillus spp.), cocci (Neisseria spp.). It is active against microorganisms of the family Rickettsiaceae, Chlamydiaceae, Mycoplasma, Actinomyces, and also some protozoa (Plasmodium, Entamoeba).
Hydrocortisone is a synthetic glucocorticosteroid of the adrenal cortex. It has anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, antipruritic and anti-edematous action.
PHARMACOKINETICS
Oxytetracycline in external application is practically not absorbed into the blood and does not have a systemic effect. Hydrocortisone can penetrate insignificantly into the systemic bloodstream, undergoes metabolism in the liver, is excreted by the kidneys.
Violation of the integrity of the skin, inflammatory and other pathological processes of the skin, occlusive dressing contribute to the absorption of the drug.
INDICATIONS
- allergic skin diseases complicated by a secondary bacterial infection (hives, eczema);
- Skin diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to oxytetracycline, as well as mixed infections (impetigo, furunculosis, folliculitis, multiple abscesses, erysipelas);
- burns and frostbites of the 1st degree;
- secondary infections after insect bites.
DOSING MODE
Outwardly. Shake the bottle before use. Affected areas are sprayed with an aerosol spray for 3 seconds, keeping the bottle in a vertical position about 15-20 cm from the skin surface. The procedure is carried out 2-4 times / day at the same time intervals.
SIDE EFFECT
Local reactions: burning, itching, irritation in place of the application of the drug, dryness and atrophy of the skin, acne-like rash, secondary infections. Prolonged use of the drug on the skin of the face can lead to the expansion of blood vessels, as well as to skin atrophy.
Possible development of systemic action: suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system. These effects can occur with prolonged use of the drug and applying it to a large surface of the skin.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
- hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;
- Tuberculosis of the skin;
- viral and fungal skin infections;
- tumors and neoplasms of the skin.
PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
The use of the drug during pregnancy and during lactation is contraindicated.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
In case of skin irritation, the drug should be canceled and appropriate measures initiated.
The use of oxytetracycline and other broad-spectrum antibiotics can lead to an increase in the number of resistant Staphylococcus strains and Candida albicans. In case of development of infection caused by resistant strains of bacteria or yeast fungi, it is necessary to begin appropriate treatment.
The drug should not be applied to a large surface of the skin due to the possibility of the appearance of undesirable reactions characteristic of steroid preparations of systemic action, including oppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system (including symptoms of Cushing's syndrome, glucosuria). In these cases, it is necessary to interrupt treatment and monitor the level of cortisol in the urine.
Long-term use of the drug on the skin can lead to the expansion of blood vessels and skin atrophy.
It is necessary to protect the eyes from the effects of aerosol. Do not inhale the sprayed product. In case of contact with mucous membranes, rinse thoroughly with cool water.
The bottle must not be opened and heated. the contents of the bottle are under pressure and easily ignited.
Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and manage mechanisms
The drug does not cause psychophysical disturbances, does not affect the ability to drive vehicles.
OVERDOSE
With topical application of the drug, symptoms of overdose were not observed.
