INSTRUCTION FOR THE SPECIALIST.
Description of the drug approved by the manufacturer for the printed edition of 2014.
PHARMACHOLOGIC EFFECT
Combined phytopreparation for topical application in dentistry. Has antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, astringent, local irritating and analgesic effect, improves tissue regeneration.
At the beginning of the course of treatment, the drug causes irritation, flushing and swelling of the gingival mucosa. The hypertensive solution of Maraslavin helps to remove toxic decay products from the gingival pockets. Then, an increase in the amount of collagen fibers is observed, the gum tissue is compacted, a new epithelium is formed, the normal structure of the gums is restored and the periodontal bond with the root of the tooth is strengthened.
In the treatment of hemorrhagic form of periodontitis, the edema and bleeding of the gums first decrease, the color of the gums becomes pale and then pale pink, the structure of the gums thickens, the gingival papillae thin out and gradually cling to the neck of the tooth on the subemulsion-cement border. The gingival pockets decrease or disappear.
With a purulent form of periodontal disease, an increase in the amount of purulent exudate is observed in the first days, then gradually its amount decreases until it disappears completely. The gingival papillae dissolve, the edges of the gums flattened and tightly pressed against the teeth. Stabilization of teeth mobility occurs.
PHARMACOKINETICS
Data on the pharmacokinetics of the drug Maraslavin are not provided.
INDICATIONS
- hemorrhagic form of periodontitis with alveolar pockets;
- Purulent form of periodontitis (as part of complex therapy);
- Postoperative period in the surgical treatment of periodontal disease.
DOSING MODE
Treatment with Maraslavin is performed by a dentist and begins with the removal of supragingival tartar. At the same time, ventilation of the gingival pockets is carried out with a spray or a stream of warm water.
Then, into the gingival and bony pockets, using a probe, introduce loose cotton swabs, abundantly moistened with Maraslavin. To do this, pour in a glass vessel 20-25 ml of the drug, which is abundantly moistened with cotton swabs, the size of which depends on the width of the alveolar or osseous pockets.
Tampons are left in pockets for 5-6 minutes. This procedure is repeated 5-6 times during the first session, sequentially on each pocket. With each change of the tampon, it penetrates more easily and deeper into the alveolar pocket. The last time the tampons are left loosely lying in their pockets until the next session. The patient is warned that in case of fever (due to purulent exudation), he can remove tampons himself and consult a dentist.
In the second session, the tampons remaining after the first session are removed and the subgingival tartar is removed. Tampons are inserted into the pocket several times, as in the first session. The last time the tampons are also left in pockets until the next session.
Treatment is carried out at intervals of 3 months. It should be 17-20 treatment sessions. The first 5-6 sessions should be conducted at intervals of 24 hours. The following courses of treatment are prescribed by the dentist.
After 5-6 months from the beginning of treatment, a control examination of the patient is carried out. Regardless of the condition of the gums, 1-2 times (if necessary, more) are treated by Maraslavin with the same places on the alveoli in order to eliminate possible pathogens. The final examination is carried out 12 months after the start of treatment.
SIDE EFFECT
Possible: allergic reactions.
With dense overlapping of tampons, there may be a subfebrile condition caused by a violation of the outflow of purulent exudate, which disappears independently after removing tampons.
