PHARMACHOLOGIC EFFECT
Antiseptic.
It is a quaternary ammonium compound, refers to cationic surfactants. Has antimicrobial and antiviral activity against Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia spp., Trichomonas vaginalis, Herpes simplex type 2, Staphylococcus aureus, is inactive against Gardnerella vaginalis, Candida albicans, Haemophilus ducreyi and Treponema pallidum.
Not active against Mycoplasma spp.

Has a spermicidal effect, which is due to the ability to damage the membrane of spermatozoa;
inhibits the motility of spermatozoa, disrupting the electrolyte balance of the aqueous phase of cervical mucus.
PHARMACOKINETICS
With external and local application is almost not absorbed.

INDICATIONS
For external use: antiseptic treatment of skin, mucous membranes, wounds;
seborrheic dermatitis.
For topical application: washing of the bladder, urethra, vaginal irrigation, contraception.

Disinfection of premises and medical products.

DOSING MODE
Individual, depending on the indications and dosage form.

SIDE EFFECT
With prolonged use, local irritation is possible.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
Hypersensitivity to benzalkonium chloride.

PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
Does not adversely affect the course of pregnancy.
It is not excreted in breast milk, it can be used during lactation.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Benzalkonium chloride is incompatible with soaps and other anionic surfactants, as well as with citrates, iodides, nitrates, permanganates, salicylates, silver salts and tartrates.
