PHARMACHOLOGIC EFFECT

Contraceptive drug for topical use.
It has a spermatocidal effect, as well as antiseptic, antifungal, antiprotozoal action, inactivates the Herpes simplex virus.
The drug is active against gram-positive bacteria (including Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp.);
Gram-negative bacteria (including Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Proteus spp., Klebsiella spp.); anaerobic bacteria, fungi and molds .
Also active against strains of bacteria resistant to antibiotics and other chemotherapeutic drugs;
suppresses plasmacoagulase and hyaluronidase of staphylococci.
Spermatocidal effect of the drug is due to the ability to damage the membranes of spermatozoa (at the beginning of the flagella, then the head), which makes it impossible for the egg to be fertilized by a damaged spermatozoon.
The effect develops 8-10 minutes after the introduction of the vaginal suppository.
It is active in the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (including gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichomoniasis).
Does not affect the normal microflora of the vagina (including the wand of Dederlein) and the hormonal cycle.
PHARMACOKINETICS

The drug is not practically absorbed by intravaginal injection, it is removed simply by washing it with water and with normal physiological excretions.

INDICATIONS

Local contraception for women of reproductive age:

- if there are contraindications to the use of oral contraceptives or intrauterine contraception;

- in the postpartum period;

- during lactation;

- in the period after the termination of pregnancy;

- during the pre-menopausal period;

- if necessary, occasional protection from pregnancy;

- when you miss or late in the reception of constantly used oral contraceptives.

Prevention of sexually transmitted diseases.

DOSING MODE

Preliminarily freeing from the contoured package, the tablet is injected deep into the vagina in a supine position 10 minutes before the sexual intercourse.

Single dose: 1 tablet is designed for 1 sexual act.
The duration of the drug is 3 hours.
It is mandatory to introduce a new vaginal tablet with repeated sexual acts.
The frequency of use is limited by the individual tolerability of the active substance and the frequency of sexual acts.
SIDE EFFECT

Allergic reactions: itching, burning, contact dermatitis.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

- colpitis;

- ulceration and irritation of the mucous membrane of the vagina and cervix;

- Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

PREGNANCY AND LACTATION

In case of accidental use of the drug during pregnancy, the drug does not adversely affect the fetus and course of pregnancy.

The drug can be used during breastfeeding, as it is not excreted in breast milk.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

To increase the efficiency, careful compliance with the method of application of the preparation is necessary.

Possible application in conjunction with the vaginal diaphragm or intrauterine contraception.

After sexual intercourse, intravaginal use of hygiene products is not recommended (douching with soapy water, since soap destroys the active substance of the drug) in order to avoid loss of contraceptive effect;
it is possible an external toilet of genitals.
OVERDOSE

Due to low systemic absorption, an overdose is unlikely.

Currently, the symptoms of overdose are not described.

DRUG INTERACTION

Any drug administered intravaginally can reduce the local spermatocidal effect (including soap and solutions containing it).

Iodine solutions (including 0.1% iodonate solution) inactivate the drug.

The drug is approved for use as a means of OTC.
